The Canadian Queer Chamber of Commerce (CQCC) is the primary national advocate for 2SLGBTQI+ entrepreneurs and professionals in Canada. Founded over two decades ago (formerly as the CGLCC), the organization recently rebranded to more explicitly embrace the term “Queer,” creating a broad and inclusive “tent” for everyone from side-hustlers and freelancers to established corporate leaders. Their mission is to remove systemic barriers and build a thriving economy where queer-owned businesses—which currently generate over $22 billion in economic activity—can achieve their full potential.
Central to the CQCC’s impact is their Supplier Diversity Program, which certifies businesses that are at least 51% queer-owned, operated, and controlled. This certification grants these businesses exclusive access to supply chains within large corporations and government bodies that have committed to diverse procurement. Beyond domestic growth, the CQCC leads high-profile international Trade Missions to markets like Japan, France, and Brazil, helping Canadian queer innovators “go global” through specialized export readiness training and B2B matchmaking on the world stage.
The Chamber also fosters the next generation of talent through the OUT For Business mentorship program and the FAM, a low-barrier professional network designed for networking and resource sharing. They also provide critical holistic support, such as the 2SLGBTQIA+ Mental Health Initiative and the Rainbow Registered national accreditation, which helps consumers identify safe and inclusive spaces. By uniting regional affiliates and advocating directly to federal policymakers, the CQCC ensures that the queer business community remains a visible and vital driver of Canada’s economic future.
