Call for Artists: Showcase Your Work at YYC and YEG Queer Artist Showcases

Are you a talented artist who wants to share your work with the 2SLGBTQIA+ community in Alberta? The Alberta LGBTQ+ Chamber of Commerce invites you to participate in our upcoming Queer Artist Showcases in Edmonton and Calgary hosted as part of our June programming for Pride Month. Whether you specialize in painting, photography, sculpture, or any other medium, we welcome you to submit your art for consideration in the showcase using the attached application form. The Chamber will select 6-8 artists to feature in each showcase.

Key Information for submissions:

• Art submission deadline: Thursday, May 23, 2024
• Notification of Acceptance: Monday May 27, 2024
• Artists Confirmed by Friday, May 31, 2024
• YEG Event: Wednesday, June 12, 2024 (5:30 p.m.)
• YYC Showcase: Thursday, June 27, 2024 (5:30 p.m.)

Event Description
This event is intended to offer a space for queer artists to sell items and showcase their work. The intention is that items will be available for purchase and displayed throughout the evening. Additionally, the showcases serve as an opportunity for networking to bring together business members and non-members, nonprofits and other friends of the Chamber. Food and beverages will be available throughout the duration of the event as well as performative components, including drag artists, a choir and other members of the arts community.

Note: At this time we are not accepting performance art submissions for the event. Scheduling and budgetary considerations prompted us to take a different approach to securing these components. However if you are a performance artist and interested in collaborating with the Chamber on some of our summer programming. Please reach out directly to info@ab-lgbt.com.
